Physics-Week 5-Chaos Theory, Symmetry, and Super Symmetry

"Ordered Chaos"

It is indeed the thing that fuels the fire and brings resolution after chaos. But chaos does not have order so  how can we understand order within chaos? In fact it is the order that fuels chaos. They mutually accentuate each other. Imagine there is order for one second, but an abrupt change happens and chaos is created. I think this is best described by one of the articles we read, Chaos-a Science of Process:
"There are two forces in the universe that govern the creation and dissolution
of order and disorder. Autopoiesis is the spontaneous emergence and
maintenance of order from a disordered context. Entropy is the spontaneous
breakdown of order, or creation of disorder, from an ordered context. These
two forces balance each other in an ongoing harmonious dance, much like
the Yin and Yang in the traditional Chinese Tai Chi symbol."
In this example, we see that we cannot have one without the other.

"Consciousness out of Chaos"

To have an understanding of chaos, we need to first have an awareness that we are experiencing it. That requires consciousness. The idea that some people believe only humans have consciousness is fascinating to me. How can we test consciousness in other life forms? What if other life forms have an awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and meaning of existence? Would that change the way they perceive life? Maybe, but why must having consciousness be their focus? Maybe they have consciousness, but they don't need to do anything with it. Their existence is enough.
Do we have an understanding of chaos and all of its factors? No, but we are aware that chaos is not linear and because of it, we exist within the universe. I think it is unfair to state that only humans have conscious awareness. How can we really know?

"My (a)symmetrical World"

My mind feels at ease when things around me, especially in my home, are arranged, organized, and everything is in its place. When there is order to the typical chaos inside my home, I am able to offer mental space to the things that are not busy work. Such things may include playing with my kids, loafing, or studying. I often have flowers somewhere in a vase in my house. Currently, I have two different kinds of flowers on my desk. It is interesting that they both are 5 petaled flowers. I gravitate toward symmetry. It puts me at ease.
